Grain of Sand is an audiovisual piece by XEXA and Sarmen Almond, created as part of Digital Bridge, an international collaborative project between UK and Mexico, from Sound and Music, CMMAS and Supersonic, funded by the British Council.

We’re so excited to share Grain of Sand, a collaborative audiovisual piece by XEXA (UK) and Sarmen Almond (MEX). This work was created as part of Digital Bridge, an international collaborative project between UK and Mexico, from Sound and Music and CMMAS, in partnership with Supersonic and funded by the British Council’s International Collaboration Grants.

Last year, XEXA and Sarmen were both selected to participate in Digital Bridge, and were invited to develop a collaboration together. We have been truly inspired by how they have worked together, and we are delighted to share their final work with you.

Grain of Sand is a binaural audiovisual piece that invites you to explore the world through the lens of a tiny fragment of the earth. Working in English, Spanish and São Tome’s, the artists imagined themselves each as a grain of sand, connecting two worlds and imaginary spaces through words and gestures becoming sounds.

You can watch and hear the piece below:
