Biography

Thomas Hyde is an English composer and academic. He was born in London and studied at the University of Oxford and the Royal Academy of Music, where his compositions tutors included Robert Saxton, Simon Bainbridge and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. He was Manson Junior Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music from 2001-2002 and was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) in 2017. Thomas has taught at City University of London, King’s College London and the University of Oxford, where he currently holds a Senior Research Fellowship at Worcester College. His works has been performed internationally and include a critically acclaimed one-man opera, a string quartet and a violin sonata written for Jennifer Pike. He has also written biographies for composers David Matthews and William Mathias.
