Additional Information
An important feature of this piece is the use of speech-based melody to create three distinct identities, each occupying its own register of the cello. As the piece moves gradually from a generally energetic state to a tranquil one, I’ve explored the physicality of the instrument through the use of harmonic sul ponticello, percussive impacts, and the extended use of pizzicato and jeté.
