Additional Information
Curved Form (No. 11) traces a journey across the full range of the cello - beginning on the low C string and ending in a wash of crystalline harmonics. The performer creates a single undulating wave, gradually introducing notes into the mix which are absorbed into the electronics and turned into a constantly fluctuating wall of sound. The piece is intended to develop very slowly, allowing the listener to be come accustomed to the augmented sound of the cello and then carefully building tension to a near overwhelming intensity before a final moment of respite.
It was written for Gabriella Swallow and premièred as part of SOLO 05 at Handel & Hendrix in London on Thursday 12 July, 2018 - more information about SOLO can be found at www.thisissolo.co.uk
