Additional Information

Single Form (Swell) is a sensuous ocean of sound. Its wave-like forms stretching and squeezing around one another to create a constantly-shifting, sinuous soundworld.

Created from heavily-processed field recordings, the music is always morphing between more natural, string-like timbres and more synthetic textures. The friction between the two creating a constant tension that mirrors the push and pull of the harmonic worlds of the piece.

At its core though, it is a tactile work with the performer manipulating the sounds by increasing and decreasing the pressure they’re exerting on the keyboard. This element of touch and the very organic responses it creates take the piece from a purely digital realm into something with more sensuality and humanity.
