Biography

Patrick’s music has been performed throughout the world, including South Korea (ISCM World Music Days), Turkey (Arditti Quartet), the Netherlands (Amatis Trio in Amsterdam Concertgebouw, broadcast on NPO 4), Norway (Cikada Ensemble), Germany (Darmstadt and Berlin’s Unerhörte Musik series), USA (Boston Conservatory, Stony Brook and New York’s Spectrum series) and Argentina (Buenos Aires’ Música UNTREF series), as well as across the UK (Aldeburgh, Dartington, Psappha Ensemble, Gildas Quartet).

Patrick’s music has received awards from the Florilège Vocal de Tours, ISCM Chengdu, Sichuan Conservatory and the Discovering Young Composers of Europe Project. He is currently writing Lament for Ensemble Intercontemporain and his recent work is published by Edition Gravis. His music for film has been featured at the Hiroshima Animation and Ji.hlava Documentary Festivals and nominated for a Taipei Film Award.

Patrick is a current PhD student in Composition at The University of Manchester, supervised by Philip Grange. Other teachers include Sir Harrison Birtwistle (Dartington), Oliver Knussen, Colin Matthews, and Michael Gandolfi (Britten-Pears), Dieter Ammann and Alberto Posadas (Lucerne Academy), and Alexander Knaifel and Helena Tulve (Saint Petersburg). He will also study with Isabel Mundry (IRCAM) in 2021.
