This musical adaptation was commissioned by Oxford patron Pamela Barlow and premiered at the British Library in July 2000 as part of ‘Chapter & Verse: the Millennium Festival of Literature’.  Transferred to the New End Theatre, Hampstead, Dec 2000 to Jan 2001 : was Critics Choice in the Sunday Times.  Stephen adapted the book, and it was dramatised by Maureen Thomas.
