Elliptical is my longest work to date, coming in at nearly 20 minutes of continuous music. I was interested in writing for a very heterogenous ensemble, in this instance Flute, Trumpet, Double Bass, and Harp, and exploring the contrasts between the instruments. Each part becomes more like a character in dramatic scene or discussion.
