Five Fragments for Piano (2010)

Additional Information

This was a compositional "experiment" to see how I would react to writing a piece based upon serial techniques like those I had used as a student in the 80s. I created a five note row and created an inversion matrix from it. Each of the five sections progresses through the matrix in a different way. The five sections create an "arch" structure with sections 1,3 and 5 being very gentle and in stark contrast to sections 2 and 4. In truth, I was pleasantly surprised at the result.
