Additional Information
‘Hush’ was composed in the summer of 2013 and was first performed in October the same year by the Manchester Chamber Choir under the direction of Neil Ferris, as part of the Late Music concert series in York.
‘Hush’ serves as a ‘companion piece’ to my earlier choral work ‘Fallen’ and like that piece it makes use of a fragment of poetry by the Sufi mystic poet Jalāl ad-Dīn Rumi; both pieces might be seen to have music as their subject.
The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.
