Ho Wai-On, SAKURA VARIATIONS (Cherry Blossoms) 何蕙安《樱花变奏》Neil Heyde cello, Helena Brown harpsichord

Additional Information

Five variations on the well-known Japanese folk song Sakura (cherry blossom), with Baroque influence.

Neil Heyde cello, Helena Brown harpsichord, Jane Webster narrates.

Images of cherry blossom from the UK, USA , Japan and my garden ― taken by Ben Rector, Albert Tang, Tom Wichser and myself.

This was my very first commission (by Yuriko Ota) after I strained my wrist and had to give up my dream to be a concert pianist but to become a composer instead.

This was recorded for my CD and book "Music is Happiness", with Jane Webster narrating a poem before the music starts. Later it was made into a video called "Sakura Variations" in memory of Helena Brown.
