‘The Shadowman’ seeks to capture the elusive nature of a shadow, painting an aural picture of this character, that although is visible, is never really there. Melodies and sections drift in and out with little reprise leading the shadow on an abstract and peculiar journey. Living in an in-between world, he moves between the deepest, murkiest depths of the dark into the sparkle of shimmering lights. He stretches out, climbing up walls, distorting his silhouette, before diminishing into the black. He disappears around corners, creeps past buildings and peers in to the light. In moments of stillness, he waits, watching and wondering, listening and longing before onerously pushing on. The chromaticism that creates the melodies aids in the shadow's shifty and incremental movements from one notion to another. There are moments where he almost finds freedom, escaping into the air, before despondently being hauled back down to Earth.
