Sinfonietta No. 1: "Silver" by Bob Good (1959- )

Composer

Additional Information

It was the idea of getting younger people interested in classical music which originally prompted Bob to write a short, accessible symphony. Something simple to understand, yet which didn't talk down to anyone, and was short enough to cater for more people's attention spans. He deliberately chose an unusual symphonic structure of Moderato-Allegro-Lento to attract people to the melody of the first movement, the second and third concentrating loosely on rhythm and harmony respectively, even though that finishes the work on a calm note. He also chose keys which would stretch young learners and seasoned professionals alike.
