British artist Nick Jones has been a friend of Richard Nye's wife for many years. He has established himself as one of the UK's leading abstract landscape artists. In 2011 Richard travelled to London to meet Nick and to be taken around an exhibition of his work. This resulted in Richard deciding to write a new work for solo piano for his friend Neil Sissons, the pianist. Jones' paintings are striking, abstract and at a first glance quite simple. On closer inspection they reveal complex textures and contrasting colours which Richard has tried to reflect in the three movements of this composition.
