Waves of One Sea is a short piece for percussion quartet.  It expresses the idea of unity between all people, as in the following quote that prefaces the piece:  ‘All mankind will dwell together as one family, blend as the waves of one sea, shine as stars of one firmament and appear as fruits of the same tree’, (from The Promulgation of Universal Peace, by ‘Abdu'l-Bahá).

Scored for both pitched and unpitched percussion, short rhythmic and melodic cells are developed and grow in the manner of waves.  After a massive climax, short rhythmic ideas emerge and harmonies are built up in the mallet percussion, but the piece ends by fading away to nothing.
