Biography

Based in London, Marilyn Herman is a composer with a strong folk and jazz, as well as classical, background.  Her compositions have been characterised as "jazz-classical", and are also deeply influenced by various world musics. She has researched, published, performed and danced Ethiopian and Yemenite music. She received compositional training from Francois Evans and Jeremy Thurlow.  Her works have been performed by world class performers at venues in the UK and the United States, including LSO St Luke's, London,  5 London New Winds Festivals, and a workshop by the Berkeley Ensemble with John Woolrich.
