Rozsa's Wish

Additional Information

For mezzo soprano, flute, harp (or piano), 2 violins, viola, cello, & double bass.

Rachel Rózsa, my grandmother, was deported to Auschwitz together with her family in 1944, where she perished.  Her last words to her children were: "I have lived. Just that you should live."   Her four children survived.

This work is based on her last words to her children in her mother-tongue:  Hungarian, to which I have added the words (translated into Hungarian):

I have lived

In joy

In abundance

With hopes

With dreams
