Waltz Cocteau is one of a number of compositions of mine that was inspired by the essence of Jean Cocteau’s creative output across various media – poetry, plays, films, novels, etc. It evokes a spirit and temperament that was typical of his way of working, and displays a lightness of touch, with twists and turns and elements of surprise and illusion.

This piece was commissioned by the International Guitar Foundation for the 2018 London Guitar Festival and premiered by the Eurostrings ensemble.
