Graham Lynch - Arias for Violin and Piano (2007) [Score-Video]

Additional Information

Arias was originally the first movement of a two movement violin and piano sonata but the second movement was withdrawn leaving this as a stand alone piece. The music developed out of an interest in tango nuevo and flamenco and the rhythms of these styles underpin the music, although in a very slowed down and subterranean way. The musical language is saturated in rich tonal harmonies and intense melodic lines that lead the music between bright colours and more sombre material.

Arias was premiered in London, in 2010 by Sian Philipps and Sophia Rahman, and subsequently recorded on the Music Chamber label.
