Additional Information
My concerto for percussion soloist and brass band, The Golden Apples of the Sun, was written in 2012 in response to a commission from the percussionist, Yasuaki Fukuhara, and given its world premiere by him and The Fairey Band conducted by Frank Renton at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester in 2013. It received its first recording by Yasuaki Fukuhara and Leyland Band conducted by Richard Evans in 2014.
The concerto is based on the poem, The Song of Wandering Aengus by WB Yeats. There are three movements:
1. Through hollow lands and hilly lands
2. The silver apples of the moon
3. The golden apples of the sun
