This suite was commissioned by Lt Col Graham Jones for the Band of the Coldstream Guards tour of Japan in 2008. The world premiere was given in Suntory Hall, Tokyo that year and subsequently recorded by the same forces in London.  
It is based on Katsushika Hokusai's prints, Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji and is dedicated to the memory of my late friend, the American-Armenian composer, Alan Hovhaness.   There are  three movements played without a break:

1. Dawn at Isawa in the Kai province

2 Climbing on Mount Fuji

3. The great wave at Kanagawa
