Additional Information
My 13th Symphony - Virginia Epitaph - was written in 2008 for a solo percussionist and wind orchestra. In 2020 I revised the work, adapting the solo percussion part for six players.
In its original form, it received its world premiere at St Teilo's Church, Cardiff in 2009 by Dave Danford and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Wind Ensemble conducted by John Reynolds.
The work was a personal artistic response to a massacre in 2008 when a deranged student shot dead 30 of his fellow students and staff members at Virginia Tech University before turning his weapon on himself. The symphony is dedicated to all innocent victims and is in three movements:
1. Lacrymosa
2. Dies Irae
3. Requiem Eternam
